April 2022 – Working towards Net Carbon Neutral

Text by Katy Humphrey

Another great meeting with inspiring and challenging speakers and lots of engagement and networking

CBC Challenge 22 – What can you do?

First on stage was Rachel from the Children’s Bereavement Centre launching Challenge 22. She reminded us that every 22 minutes in the UK a child is bereaved of a parent. To raise awareness of this shocking statistic and to raise vital funds throughout 2022 they have launched CBC Challenge22

They are asking their amazing supporters to challenge themselves to do something for 22 minutes, 22 hours, 22 days or even 22 times.

You can do something together as a family, go on a 22 minute or 22-mile cycle ride, you can see if you can skip for 22 minutes even bake 22 cakes, the ideas are endless.

You can also get involved with your business, perhaps you could challenge your colleagues, organise office games and use it as the perfect team-building opportunity. There will be lots of support and publicity available.

Vikki Holland from V3 Training was our newbie winner whist Paul Clayton from Healdi was picked for our existing member write up!

Spotlight on V3 Training

Vikki Holland set up V3 Training to deliver a variety of First Aid, First Aid for Mental Health and Pet First Aid courses. Based just outside Newark Vicki travels across the  UK working with a variety of people.

After university Vicki entered recruitment, working initially for a global player before co – founding her own business. Where she had been responsible for writing and delivering training programs.

Looking for the next challenge and having a keen interest in First Aid the next logical step was to combine training and first aid. It was in 2020 during the pandemic when Vicki first opened her doors for her business building on some existing clients and finding new ones.  She completed the relevant First Aid instructor training altogether with a NVQ Level 3 in Education and training.

Where possible Vicki likes to tailor her courses for each client making the course as engaging as possible as often participants aren’t there by choice!  She delivers a one-day course in Emergency First Aid at Work, two-day First Aid at Work requalification and three-day First Aid at Work course.

Her First Aid for Mental Health options have been very popular – particularly the 4 hour Awareness course – a bite size session on how to spot mental health conditions and how start a conversation with someone who may need support.

As a huge animal lover, Vicki also set up Pet First Aid – our pets get poorly too so if we can help them prior to getting them to the vet then that’s great – with a nation who have gone pet mad over the last couple of years, it’s extremely relevant and another string to her bow.

Outside of work Vicki can be found out on a run (good for her mental wellbeing), on a netball court (she plays for a Nottingham league and is vice chair of her local club) or enjoying a glass or two of red wine…. although white or rose works for her too!
