Around 70 businesspeople from Newark and the surrounding areas gathered at the YMCA for Newark Business Club’s November meeting.

In the main presentation, Newark Business Club member Wendy Jackson gave an interesting insight into her work as a licensed homeopath. She described how difficult experiences in her life led her on a journey of self-discovery and healing. While suffering from post-natal depression, she went to see a homeopath and talked about the trauma she had experienced in her earlier life for the first time. The homeopath prescribed remedies that helped her to dissipate her fears and recover.

This encouraged Wendy to study homeopathy, qualifying with a Licentiate of the College of Practical Homeopathy in 2006. She uses flower essences, herbal tinctures, tissue salts and dōTERRA essential oils in her work. Herbal tinctures provide organ support, with milk thistle improving liver function, for example, while tissue salts can help if you are deficient in certain minerals, improving areas of the body such as bones and teeth. Some essential oils can be taken internally, with sweets containing essential oils boosting the immune system and helping to protect against seasonal illnesses.
Wendy’s clients are seeking solutions to their health issues and want to regain power over their health. For clients with a chronic condition, Wendy can advise on the best products to help them manage their symptoms during a one-to-one consultation.

Wendy is highly experienced in delivering workshops, having led 150 workshops over the past three years. She works with businesses to develop bespoke workshops that meet their employees’ needs, which may include reducing stress and anxiety. Her workshops are always interactive, showing participants how to make their own remedies, such as mint chocolates made from dōTERRA essential peppermint oil.
Wendy is hosting a Wellness Retreat at Fernwood Village Hall on 27 November from 7pm until 9pm to empower you to support your own health and wellbeing. Contact wendyjackson.org@gmail.com for more information.
This month, Penny Taylor MBE, Head of Newark College and the Air and Space Institute, was in the spotlight. Her video presentation showed how Newark College inspires young people through education, learning and apprenticeships. It highlighted the high-quality educational facilities offered by the college for the practical learning of a variety of skills, from motor mechanics to hairdressing, and from plumbing to creative media.

Table networking followed, giving everyone one minute to talk about their business with the others on their table and pass round business cards. Following a change of tables, a second round of table networking provided more opportunities to find out about other local businesses.
