About The Club
Newark Business Club was formed in 2001, by a small group of local businesses. Today we represent over 1000 members and have forged excellent partnerships with Newark & Sherwood District Council, Newark Town Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Members of Parliament in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
The executive committee of the club administer its affairs in accordance with the club constitution and actively encourage members to join committees particularly where they have areas of expertise.
Action Group
Central to the club is the Action Group which lobbies local, regional and national government to improve the business environment. It comments on planning issues, advises on transport matters and other areas that impact on business.
Community Engagement
The wider community is important to the club and we actively engage with the third sector. This has included work with Newark CVS where we encouraged members to become Dementia Friends. Charities and volunteer groups are very welcome to join The Business Club and attend meetings.
Education
We work with with local schools and colleges providing mentoring and work experience opportunities within member companies.
Retail
Through our retail group we actively work to support local shops and we have, in tandem with Totally Locally Newark, developed a retail app which promotes local shops and offers generous discounts to consumers.
Networking & Business Development
Networking is key to the club and there are opportunities at both the monthly breakfast meetings and other business events. We actively encourage members to seek the services of other local businesses and to this end we have a members database of services.
Business Engagement
The club support local initiatives including the Business Awards and works closely with local groups such as the Newark Town Team and Visit Newark.
